As the seven-time Formula 1 world champion prepares to turn a new leaf with a new team in 2025, here’s a look at him at his fashionable best over the years.
It’s going to be truly the end of an era at the end of this year, which will be Lewis Hamilton’s last with Mercedes after more than a decade of partnership. Announcing on February 1, the world record holder with the greatest number of wins revealed that he will be teaming up with Ferrari in 2025.
Born on January 7, 1985, in Hertfordshire, England, Hamilton made his debut in Formula 1 in 2007 driving for McLaren, finishing runner-up by just a point behind Kimi Räikkönen. Hamilton’s career began with a blaze, setting numerous records from the start, beginning with being the first black racer. He won his maiden title in his second year, becoming the then-youngest F1 World Champion.
Hamilton joined hands with Mercedes in 2013, going on to become the driver with the most career wins – 103, pole positions – 104, podium finishes – 197, and the joint record-holder of seven World Championship titles with Michael Schumacher. The British racer has an endless list of achievements including most wins with the same team – 82, most wins at the same Grand Prix – 8 – at the Hungarian and British Grand Prix, and most wins from pole position – 62, among several others.
But Hamilton’s popularity extends beyond his on-track achievements. The influential driver is renowned for his environmental and social activism, and support for increased diversity in motorsport and combating racism. He is also noted for his stylish pursuits in fashion and high-profile lifestyle.
When not setting the tracks ablaze, Hamilton lives a colorful life off the speed lane, endorsing top-notch fashion and lifestyle brands and chairing front rows at the most exclusive events. He is an ambassador for a slew of elite names such as Tommy Hilfiger, Puma, IWC, Police, L’Oreal, and Sony.
His love for colors is evident on track as well, as he brandishes his helmets in different hues, symbolizing meaningful moments. Beginning with bright helmets in blue, green, red, and yellow in his early years, to wearing a red and white helmet at the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix in honor of Niki Lauda who passed away at the time, and a black and purple helmet in support of Black Lives Matter.
